Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 25, 2011 12:21 pm Hi there, We intend to build a small retaining wall in our back garden and would like to know if we need to lay a concrete base if the height of the wall is only going to be 2-4 masonary blocks high (rendered)? Will we get away with just compounding the soil beneath? Many thanks to anyone who can offer advice. Re: Retaining wall question 5Apr 27, 2011 2:40 pm I was reading a Gardening Book and they suggested you dig the footings about 30cm down and fill with concrete even for 1-2 brick height walls. Also I was at Bunnings over the weekend and noticed Dulux have a render paint display on a wall there, apparently if you put 2 coats of this render paint over normal brickwork you cannot see any mortar joins at all, it was $130 for I think it was a 10lt tin and it can be tinted to any colour. Has anyone used this product before???? We are doing our own retaining wall as well, quite long over 10 mtrs long, we are only going 2 grey concrete blocks high and were thinking of using this Dulux render paint.
