I have a rather large corner block which has had a serious weed outbreak. It used to be the greenest, cleanest lawn on the street, now it looks like terrible.
It all happened when I put Sheep manure on my garden beds. I have finally got the beds under control again from the weeds by dumping a heap of mulch on it.
Anyway, I have spoken to many people about it and they all have their own idea on how to resolve the issue but nothing seems to work.
This is what I have been suggested / tried:
- Use Klean Lawn (Strong) All it seemed to do was give me a headache
- Use Weed and Feed. It seemed to just feed... the weeds!
- Manually pull them out. After 8 hours and I had only done 1/8th of the lawn, I gave up
- Cut the lawn extremely short and stop watering... No joy
- Pretend I am a sprayer and buy 2-4D. Supposedly banned and I was unable to obtain in.
- Dig lawn up and replace with roll on.. This works, but is damn costly
I have been told to get some zero / roundup and make a slight mix and spray the whole lawn, however when speaking to other people about this, they said my lawn is some a week breed and it would kill it dead forever if I did this.
I now get a contract mower man in (yes I have been told that they usually bring the weeds) and I get him to cut it really low. I then wait for the weeds to grow and flower (usually 2 days later as you will see in the photos). I then mix some Klean Lawn and some dishwashing detergent (Supposedly makes it stick to the leaves of the weeds) and spray the lawn. It seems to do nothing as this is the 6th time I have done it without any joy.
Can anybody please suggest how to remove the weeds?
Cheers
