What a stunning front garden!!!!

Phoenix - I didn't realise people were responsible for the nature strip between their block & the road.

Is this common in your area? We will not be allowed to touch the grass between the part in the last photo - grass only!

LOL, no not stalking....i do want to peek over the side fence though as they are doing features along the side fence too.... BUT i won't....cause that would be stalking hey???

This is the first nature strip that i have seen in the area done like this....I will keep my eye on it to take update pics and to see if it ends up being ripped up???

I will also try and dig out our developers guidelines and see if that says anything????

Wouldn't it be funny if one day the owners of that house just happened to join the forum. Then they see pics of their house plastered all over this thread. I know if I was in that situation I'd be freaking out! :lol:

Is that house near your house? Maybe you can befriend them. And slowly and surely they might invite you into their house and you will finally be able to see what's behind the fence. :wink:

Or you could do the whole 'can I borrow a cup of sugar' thing.

LOL, good idea Missy, but they are not that close...3-4 minutes walking distance perhaps, but nevertheless i will stay true to my word and tap on their door to ask questions... :wink:

If their garden is that nice, image the interior????? Well it shows that they have nice taste...in my opinion anyway???? Some might beg to differ but .....hey i don't care cause i like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :shock:

Yeah riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, no no no, i have 2 very nice little gems in very large pots just flourishing at my in-laws. I can't wait to get them in the ground as feature pieces in the new house.... Will probably look at a row of yuccas, so me flax (dwarf variety) and a few other drought tolerant plants too.... I do like the bird of paradise but only if it suits...might dig up my parents one and move it with us....LOL It has wonderful flowers.....it's about 25 years old....dad won't even know it's gone...... :shock:

3-4 mins? That's nothing. Hehe If you have dogs you should take them for a walk past there and you might just bump into them one day while they are tending to their garden. We've met (or just had a friendly wave/nod/hi) to a handful of our neighbours because of walking the dog.

Well, you probably are right. But let's not get carried away. I've seen some very lovely homes on the outside and some people butcher it when it comes to the internal!

Cruised past the house this morning, they were installing artificial grass on the nature strip at the time.

The house and landscaping does have nice street appeal.

Two weeks ago, we took the bikes down there...we've missed bike-riding with the kids....LOL....i did blockies around the place :shock:

, to taking a closer look....They were tending the garden at the time, but i still just looked, didn't initiate any conversation.....yet :shock:

Lots of bike tracks and quiet streets to ride on so it was nice to get back on one again....

- one tree, slightly lop-sided
- a patch of dirt, possibly with a pebble-bed to supply the neighborhood brats with rocks
- a fern of some sort
- several 70s-style raised garden beds with ugly in-your-face stonework
- a row of tiny plants, variety unknown

There is virtually no garden to be seen. There's about 20 plants and maybe six or so square meters of dirt.

Ouch!!

I did think it looked more like a display home than a home for "real people"

And the house is so unbelievably close to the front and side roads!!! I think the nature strip is bigger than their yard!! :lol:

Where we used to live the front of the house was just a few meters from the footpath which was just awful... :evil:

Do you want to know what I like about it...

They have taken some initiative, effort and time into planning and landscaping their garden. I have lived in a new estate before and believe me, the absolute ugly, disgusting, lack of thought and horrible so called gardens( weeds and concrete) that I had the displeasure of passing every day use to make my blood boil. One house for the last 7 years had shoulder length weeds not only as their landscaping but for the nature strip as well. This estate has houses in the 600k plus range but no thought or regard by 50% of owners to the street scape. We had a stunning landscaped garden that everybody use to walk by and complement us on.

So I say any body who makes an effort to beautify their garden deserves a big round of applause

Well said Mrs B………not only does a badly landscaped or kept garden make the owners home look bad, but every other home around it.

I love their lighting…..thought has been put into it….at night this home looks fantastic. Once the sparse gardens grow, this home will be a show piece.

I certainly agree with the sentiment. In fact one of the things I judge a street / neighbourhood / and house by is what the garden looks like. An area with a lot of good gardens usually means 'people who care'.

I just thought we needed some balance in this thread: Too many raptures about one tree and some seedlings.
