Looks good…..at least they wont have to rely on council to maintain! Make sure you post a photo of the plants they put in as well! I'm sure they'll disappear in due course....and probably be replaced by river rocks i would presume...
Will keep you informed.... Re: What a stunning front garden!!!! 46Jan 08, 2008 8:26 pm I did read once that the most cultivated plant by area in the US was garden turf, and that seemed wrong somehow. But synthetic grass ? Awful. Must be some low-water alternative surely. Re: What a stunning front garden!!!! 47Jan 08, 2008 8:30 pm Cabinfever I certainly agree with the sentiment. In fact one of the things I judge a street / neighbourhood / and house by is what the garden looks like. An area with a lot of good gardens usually means 'people who care'. I just thought we needed some balance in this thread: Too many raptures about one tree and some seedlings. Hi cabinfever, I share your sentiments as well (as to balance in threads). I think that when a home owner has made an effort with landscaping and no one else around them gives a hoot, it will stand out amongst a shabby crowd. In other suburbs where there are beautiful established landscapes, no one would give it a second look. Any way, I think the owners are crazy planting any thing during our hot, dry summers. It takes too much water to established a garden and most plants cant take the heat if they have been newly planted. Ash the council only mow during the building period. Once owners move in, then it is their responsibility.... We are advised in the guidelines that the grass must not exceed 10cm in height - and that includes the blocks when they are not being built on too!!!! They won't touch that one... or any of the established homes there as they have taken possession.... Empire Zoiysia is also very low on water requirements - I've heard it uses about 30% of the water required for buffalo (I think that was the stat - heard it on Garden Gurus on Ch 9) Re: What a stunning front garden!!!! 54Jan 14, 2008 12:24 pm kiwi056 Phoenix, has there been any additional works done on this garden? Not since we drove past on Saturday... But heading down there again tonight, armed with the camera, so will take more pics if anything has been done.... But i must say there is a nice little twist in behind the raised beds too... We drove past the front of the house on Saturday while checking out the curvature of driveways in relation to the crossovers...(REALLY sad i know ) and instead of a solid path from the driveway to the front porch/doorway.... i quickly noticed they have rectangular paver like stepping stones made out of the same exposed aggregate as the driveway with something similar to mondo grass growing in between each "paver"... A nice little twist... If i can get a pic of it tonight, i will.... Re: What a stunning front garden!!!! 56Jan 14, 2008 9:52 pm I'm not sure if you can really see the pavers/exposed agg concrete slabs in the pic, but you should be able to zoom in to have a better look:

Re: What a stunning front garden!!!! 57Jan 15, 2008 7:35 pm Some more pics of the garden, you can sort of see the stepping stones that i referred to earlier....
