For the soil bentonite clay is a must as is zeolite. Then certified organic compost. Then and only then will a nice hedge appear and that will be the best option. A North-ish facing wall? Going by the hills in back ground. That is a wall you may consider keeping bare so winter sun can heat it and reduce energy costs in the home. A low hedge maybe a better option. Ideally also having garden against the home isn't a great idea and should be avoided if you can. At least a gap of pebbles or something between the wall and the garden beds are a good idea. Low hedge to around waist high would look good right along there. Correa dusky bells or sky bells, misty pink also. They all make a wonderful hedge. Diploaena (Get from APACE nursery in Oakford) would be a ripper! Beaufortia squarrosa is another very colourful option. Callistemon Matt Flinders. That can be easily clipped into a formal hedge too. A low hedge to around 80cm and a nice frame or feature on the wall would be better. Hang some wrought iron screen thing up as some art Paint white, would look good Warmer house in winter.
