I love Callistemon 'Great Ball of Fire' but do you think it would grow okay in shade as well? A good choice would be the Bush Christmas Lilly Pilly. If you grow it in a shaded area the only change you would see is that the foliage is darker than usual. I grew some under two layers of 80% shadecloth and the foliage was a lot bigger and was jet black in colour.Nobody ever guessed it was Bush Christmas!!! When people bring kids around for a party,if they are teenagers who want a theme colour party we buy the dye in Coles that is normally used for Iceing Sugar and mix the whole bottle in half a litre of water and then spray all the blooms in the garden. You then have a garden full of blooms that are the same colour which lasts for around two weeks and the dye does not cause problems with the new growth which comes out the correct colour. But I must say the Iceberg look good in green!!! |
