Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 29, 2011 10:19 am hi, I've a terracotta pot and plan to place in indoor for a small plant. How to paint it? I read that I need to put the sealer but before painting, after painting? Do i need to paint / sealer the inside of the pot? I've water based primer, sealer, undercoat all in one ( white ), can I use that? Can i use the water based acrylic paint after the primer? Thanks very much Re: How to paint terracotta pots? 2Mar 29, 2011 10:26 am There are sealers you can buy from Bunnings etc. Yates have one called 'Pot-a-seal', which is sprayed on, but there are some I've seen that are brushed on as well. We sealed the inside of all our outdoor pots, because the Terracotta is quite porous and it draws all the water and dries the soil out quite quickly. By sealing it, you help keep the soil moist. There are many links if you google "sealing terracotta pots". Paint the inside of the pot otherwise the water gets into the pot and lifts the paint. It wasn't bondcrete, it was called Pot & Ornament Sealer or something, but I got it at Bunnings. I'll see if I can find the thread - there's even a picture.
