And I didn't spend a fortune. Many plants were freebies, cuttings or transplanted treasures given to me by friends and acquaintances. Most of the rest were small plants that cost under $10. Even the large ones were carefully sourced so as not to break the bank. I spent $45 each on two bamboo "Alphonse Carr" and I think around $40 on a large Magnolia "Little Gem". I also brought a huge birds nest fern, an elkhorn and another Mag. "Little Gem" from our previous house. The other few biggies were all in the $10-$20 range, some even less. The succulents were a great buy - not only drought-tolerant, but you can just pull bits off them and plonk them in the ground somewhere else and they take off. Those are my kind of plants! Re: One year on 4Mar 20, 2011 9:34 am you have done a fantastic job! well done Harrisdale backyard finally done! Re: One year on 5Mar 20, 2011 10:52 am I also managed to fit quite a few fruit trees in a very limited space. Lemon, lime, cumquat and four feijoas (and a kaffir lime around the corner). Still trying to figure out where to put the passionfruit vine.... I should have placed the clothes line a metre further to the north and left space along the fence. Damn. Re: One year on 8Mar 22, 2011 11:21 pm Looks great, the last year has gone quick since we were last there! Have noticed the plant growth here in Melbourne has been great the last 12 months, with all the rain we have been getting, the plants are loving it. I've seen more growth in the last 6 months than the last 2 years in some places Planned Landscape Constructions http://www.plannedlandscape.com.au Find us on facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id= ... 9907611509 Re: One year on 10Mar 23, 2011 10:51 am Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: One year on 11Mar 24, 2011 11:40 am amazing how much the plants have filled out and take up the space. Looks great! Re: One year on 12Mar 24, 2011 2:51 pm What's really nice is that nothing is overgrown - it all looks in proportion. Well done For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: One year on 13Mar 25, 2011 6:59 pm Thanks everyone. I'm pleased that it's all turning out as I pictured it. I'll post some more photos over the weekend. We still have a couple of things to finish off, and I think I can squeeze in another plant or two, but it's mostly done. Our main outstanding project is a Balinese daybed with roof (maybe thatched, still looking at options) as a quiet spot to sit on a warm day. We'd love a small fish pond there as well...still figuring it all out. Re: One year on 14Mar 26, 2011 1:36 pm Re: One year on 15Mar 26, 2011 8:00 pm It IS later! Yep, sometimes it seems that things simply aren't growing - but when you're looking at them every day, you forget very easily how small they used to be. Photos give you a much better perspective than your (faulty) memory. Re: One year on 19Mar 27, 2011 6:37 pm It is now MUCH later! I have worked ALL weekend on client programs. Plus done the week's washing, run around after my mum and weeded the entire garden. Somehow I found time to actually have a shower today... I did manage to snap one photo though. All that bamboo I planted apparently attracted feral pandas and this was the tragic result : Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10106 Very common on rendered homes Smaller suppliers get the lower quality raw materials 6 11803 4 14255 |
