Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 12, 2011 5:15 pm What is this... and how do i get rid of it?! It is effecting every single leaf on the tree. The different shade green leaf (lighter) only has very very small amount of the disease, and this colour leaf is only on on little off shoot of a branch). We are selling the house when our new home in MV is built in about 3 months, so i neglected to care about it when it first turned up (as we arent taking it with us), but now it just looks totally awful if we have open inspection etc. Surrounding plants fruit/vegie plants are ; Lemon tree about 3 meters away Corn crop about 2.5 meters away Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ is there something i can spray on the leaves, or something i can feed it with to stop this? Tree is about 2 meters tall now, and about 2 years old. It was grown from the seed of a tree at my parents house, and i have never seen this disease on their tree. Mulch used on it originally was a bark style mulch, replaced in last few months with lawn clippings. About once every 6 weeks is watered with seasol. Recently with seasol and powerfeed. Never previously manually watered. In last 3 months, probably been manually watered once a week. I believe disease has been on the tree for at least 8 months now. There are different methods of approach. My 2nd link is to Peter Cundal who uses slaked lime and water. Good Luck. Let us know how you go! www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Apricot Tree - leaf disease 5Mar 14, 2011 10:34 am Here is the article transcript from the episode. http://www.abc.net.au/gardening/stories/s3159520.htm Most of the catapillar killers contain Bacillus thuringiensis, so i'm off to get some now and see how we go! TOUGHEN UP PRINCESS Re: Apricot Tree - leaf disease 6Apr 06, 2011 1:21 am The ones containing spinosad work far better Compost around the trees, heavy mulch layer of straw, hose it in to bed it down and it won't blow around Molasses and seasol. Re: Apricot Tree - leaf disease 7Apr 06, 2011 7:34 am well its been a few weeks now, and ive been mixing and spraying on the Yates one and it hasnt done anything! The tree always has a thick layer of mulch, but its grass clippings. I will look for another pesticide with spinosad in it this weekend and give that one a shot. thanks TOUGHEN UP PRINCESS Apricot Tree - leaf disease 8Apr 06, 2011 10:41 am Not a good idea to use lawn clippings as a mulch. It will be making the trees time no so much fun. Best to not use a catcher on lawns and let it return back to the soil it came from. For this to work you can't use mainstream advice or chemicals/fertilizers. The results are better than ever. Have started course of spinosad based killer today. Will see how its going in a week! (says they are meant to drop off the tree within 3 days) fingers crossed! there is some new clean growth on the tree, but these little blighters are still there in numbers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ TOUGHEN UP PRINCESS Re: Apricot Tree - leaf disease 13Apr 20, 2011 11:26 pm No biggie though because you'll go to all that effort only to have the leaves drop pretty soon anyway Good mulch Hello. I just bought a few acres in Habana, Mackay, and my horses seem to love hanging around under this tree. I would like to name the paddock after this tree. Can… 0 9529 Fellow Perth dweller. Looks like pruns nigra. It's a dark leaf flowering plum. Doesn't get massive and is easily trimmed deciduous tree. Very popular in small gardens in Perth 7 2764 |
