Thanks. I was reading all praises for empire but recently read lot of reviews that it gets almost dead in Melbourne during winters. Re: Sir Walter Buffalo - "generic" soft leaf buffalo as good 63Jul 28, 2015 8:56 am The photo may have to wait until the weekend as it tends to be dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home BUT I work at my parents place and they have a section of Palmetto and a section of Sir Walter. I'll take a photo of their grass but they haven't had as many frosts this winter. Re: Sir Walter Buffalo - "generic" soft leaf buffalo as good 64Jul 28, 2015 9:02 am Probably not really a great representative. The palmetto is at the bottom of the photo right and the sir Walter is the top left. This area lacks sun in winter and the palmetto is part of the dogs turn circle so it's patchy and has more wear. What is interesting is that the sir Walter is greener (there's another section of sir Walter that barely gets any sun and it is greener too. This is the opposite of what I read about sir Walter and palmetto comparisons. The sir Walter grows noticeably taller and in summer needs mowing at least three times as much Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Sir Walter Buffalo - "generic" soft leaf buffalo as good 66Jul 28, 2015 10:59 am Thanks Ari for sharing this photo. best part of this pic is that shows both palmetto and sir walter in one pic. from this pic, sir walter looks like a clear winner. our front area has hardly any sun, and backyard would have some patchy shady areas too. i'm exactly after grass which would grow and stay green in shade. we struggled a lot of couch grass in previous house where it refused to grow in shade. Re: Sir Walter Buffalo - "generic" soft leaf buffalo as good 67Jul 28, 2015 12:40 pm It does look like its the winner BUT the palmetto is down in that spot because the sir walter hadn't ever coped well there either and needed replacing.. So just take that into consideration too. It will be interesting in the summer to see how they both go. I've dug some footings to embed a post anchor into. My holes are around 450mm deep which I'll put a 200mm stirrup into. The bottom of these holes seem firm enough. … 0 3317 9 24795 Thank you.
