Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 02, 2011 1:54 pm I rent a house with a yard which was overrun with weeds, so stupidly I took to the weeds with weed killer and killed the yard in some patches. The majority is still green (albeit quite weedy) but some patches are obviously dead due to being poisoned. My question is what should I do next? If a lawn has been poisoned will it respond to care and compost now, or is there a rule of thumb I don't know about that says it will need to be returfed/seeded? I'm renting, so I'm not interested in an expensive overhaul. Any help appreciated, as obviously I have no idea what i'm doing Thanks Re: Black Thumb - Dead Lawn Help 2Mar 04, 2011 8:26 am Hi firstly where abouts are you? climate plays a big part. Secondly do you know what sort of grass you have? Does it have runners that grow along the ground making the grass spread around the edges? Does the grass have a broad thick leaf or very fine? this matters as we can then choose the right selective herbicide to treat the weeds and not kill the grass.
