Turned out pretty good and the end result looks much better than the dirt covered with plastic I had there previously. The plan later down the track is to build a screen around the Air Cond unit and to place some pot plants along the fence to break it up a bit but for now the area (albeit a bit plain ) is under control. Re: Another bit completed 5Mar 02, 2011 3:31 pm looks great! I think a screen and some plants will really enhance it. Another bit completed (New pics 2/3/11) 6Mar 02, 2011 8:48 pm TinaG looks great! I think a screen and some plants will really enhance it. Cheers - I moved a few of my poor neglected box plants from the back yard today and yes, it made a big difference. I'm totally knackered but I managed to completely fill a 2 m3 skip bin by hand with clean fill. Mecha - just for you, here is a beautiful example of Plastic on Dirt. Note the elegant placement of the rocks and bricks which really enhances the work and takes it to the next level. Re: Another bit completed (New Pics 2/3/11) 7Mar 03, 2011 6:01 pm I pulled up ok this morning - a little stiff but not too bad.
I managed to 3/4 fill another 2 m3 bin with fill and I have 2.5m left to dig tomorrow. What's the new allmighty trench for, if I may ask? And do you happen to have a pic or two of your "formwork"/prep for laying/concreting the steps in?? And do you happen to have a pic or two of your "formwork"/prep for laying/concreting the steps in?? Hi Lex, I'm going to build a retaining wall 2 courses high out of Tasman Blocks across the back. I haven't settled on how I'm going to tackle the steps yet. I finished filling the Skip Bin today and now I'm having a well deserved rest over the weekend and to spend some time with my kids. Cheers Leonard. Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 3/3/11) 12Mar 04, 2011 3:46 pm Looking good - you have been working hard. Love the path by the air con unit - looks really good! Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 3/3/11) 15Mar 06, 2011 10:55 am kek You'll be a pro at this by the time you've finished. Great job! Thanks Kek. The plan after I build the wall is to pave the lower section in a large format square paver and turf the top part. Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 3/3/11) 16Mar 09, 2011 6:34 pm A little bit more done today - I set my levels and removed a few high spots out of the trench. I decided to go with a set of steps 3 blocks wide instead of 2. A mate of mine has a plate compactor he is willing to lend me so while waiting for the compactor to arrive I began setting out for the 400mm high retaining wall down the narrow side of the house - a lot less digging with a Treated Pine Sleeper wall. Tomorrow I'll begin loading the trench with road-base and I'll dig a few holes for the Sleeper wall. It's a strange feeling - with the blocks I placed temporarily in the trench today to see how I was traveling with levels and placement for the steps I can almost see the end of my landscaping odyssey. Whilst having a break from digging here is a pic of my first post ready for concrete. For the corner where the walls meet I decided to put the sleeper wall behind the block wall just to make it look a bit neater. They do look really good once together. Can't wait to see the finished result.
