I had a bunch of other things this week to take care but I'm planning to resume tomorrow where I left off before I was rudely interrupted by the rain. Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 17/3/11) 42Mar 25, 2011 2:24 pm Another 2.4m section done plus 2 more posts concreted in today ready for tomorrows effort. Thats 9.6m of retaining wall completed Looking forward to the end of this portion of the project and moving onto the block wall. That reminds me.....where is that compactor my mate said he would drop over to me ??? Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 17/3/11) 43Mar 25, 2011 2:50 pm Keep up the good work - the end is nigh!! For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 17/3/11) 44Mar 25, 2011 5:23 pm Cheers, yep after this next 2.4m panel I'm stepping it down from 400mm high to 200mm high so it will be less of a hole to dig each time. Hopefully the weather holds and I can catch up what I lost with the rain. Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 29/3/11) 48Mar 29, 2011 2:25 pm Lex Well, now you can relax! Not to mention that the job will be finished (with his scratching tools ) in no time fairy blue Cute! Thanks guys - My little boy is a joy. He really likes to help. I had a big day today - 4 holes dug, and 4 posts concreted. Here is a picture. How deep did you go? Love the grey matter inside My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 29/3/11) 50Mar 29, 2011 9:29 pm The posts are in 300mm. The holes look really deep because I have been leveling the side as I'm going. There is about 100 - 120mm of fill I need to remove from around the posts and level it back to the house. After I do that the posts won't look like they are siting in holes that are too big for them. Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 29/3/11) 52Mar 30, 2011 4:17 pm Lex Big foot is good Got it all in just before the storm rolled thru. Still got a bit of leveling to do but I'll do that when I get my next skipbin so I don't have to move the dirt twice. I guess there will be a bit less of from now on ... just putting the ag pipe (hmmm, a bit more digging behind the wall, but at least it doesn't need to go that deep ) and then just the fun stuff (gravel everywhere?)? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: My Landscaping (New Pics 29/3/11) 54Mar 30, 2011 7:04 pm Yep I'm almost done building the wall. A bit of Ag pipe and drainage gravel will be next. For the path I'm going to use crushed granite. I had thought about paving it but the granite is far easier and will be done in a fraction of the time. Re: My Landscaping (Almost finished another retaining wall) 55Mar 31, 2011 9:37 am Well done That's going to look really nice when it's finished and you can be proud of what you (and yuor little helper) have achieved! Re: My Landscaping (Almost finished another retaining wall) 56Mar 31, 2011 11:40 am Nice work on the wall! Looks like a very pro job and I'll be using it as inspiration when I get started on mine this weekend (weather permitting...) I noticed you've used bolts to attach the horizontal sleepers to the posts. I've heard that it's ok (and even advisable due to shrinkage and movement) to use bolts for the bottom row but then nails or batten screws for the others. Do you know if this is the case? I must say it looks very neat with bolts on all of them in your pics. I have not heard of the method of using bolts on the bottom row and nails or screws for the rest. Cheers Leonard.
