Now that the autumn leaves have started falling it has got me thinking about mulch. Normally I just rake them onto the garden beds, and then rake them again the next day when they have all blown back to where they were. Actually....who am I kidding? I would like to be the kind of person that sweeps their path every day but I really just wade through the leaves until I know someone is coming over for coffee, then whip out the front for a quick tidy up!!
So - is it fine to just rake them onto the garden beds, or would it be better to pulverise them in the leaf blower and then spread them out?
Also, do they still have good 'nutritional' value for the garden? Don't most deciduous trees 'suck' the goodness out of the leaves before they drop?
