Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 19, 2011 4:00 pm It's been down for about 3 months and seems to be struggling. I'm a bit of a grass noob and don't really know much about the stuff. I don't even know what type of grass was laid (it was done by a landscaper) but it seems to be struggling with some big brown (dead?) sections. All I've done to date is water it. Help?!? Can it be saved? This is what it was like when laid. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is what it is like now. I've let it grow longer to see the extent of the problem. Re: What's wrong with my lawn? :( 5Feb 21, 2011 8:49 pm The back is north facing (melbourne) so it gets a fair bit of sun but the house does have some protection from the sun and this does affect the amount of sun on the lawn..... Rake in Organic compost, zeolite, perlite. Apply molasses. #respect for possibly the best username ever!!!!!! and avatar Re: What's wrong with my lawn? :( 7Feb 22, 2011 12:50 pm Awesome. Thanks Fu! Re: What's wrong with my lawn? *Update* 14Jun 26, 2011 5:56 pm I've planted by EZ Grass 8 months ago and it has deteriorated gradually over the months. It has become dry and brown in the middle parts of the lawn. I haven't taken any special care (seasol, etc) after the first 2 months, which may explain its current condition. I'm not sure what is causing this, but the dry areas seem to coincide with (a) heavier traffic areas, (b) areas that tend to get more sunlight, (c) the edges of lawn. I saw this thread, and probably seems that I should follow this advice and see what happens. I have 2 questions though: 1. Is there any point doing this now in winter (Melbourne) or do I wait until Spring when things start growing again? 2. My ground is uneven and I intend to do some heavy top dressing to even out the soil. a) When is the best time to do this? b) Do I top-dress the 'dead' parts of the lawn or wait for the green shoots to come out again? Here's the photo of the lawn in its current state: http://flic.kr/p/9WRZoP cheers Re: What's wrong with my lawn? *Update* 15Jun 26, 2011 7:22 pm It's way greener than my EZ! Dont bother with anything till mid sept. The EZ is going dormant so in the high wear areas it cant grow back hence its going to crap in those spots. Where its green its getting bugger all traffic. It will come back fine in sept, EZ has sub surface runners so you can wear it to dirt and it will re-shoot and thicken up. Its all to do with the soil temps, it starts going yellow in may and is green/brown for winter. Re: What's wrong with my lawn? *Update* 16Jul 10, 2011 11:49 pm What was done as soil prep for your EZ? 2 31344 there is only 20% difference in concrete strength between 20 mpa and 25 mpa, so check with your engineer first if it fits his calculation tolerances.
