Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 16, 2007 10:57 pm Our house colours are Dulux grey beige tones - CB Woodland Grey or Dune roof and render Dulux fudge and mocha magic.
Should we use a clay brick paver (possibly red tone) or one of the large format reconstituted pavers (grey tones). The larger format pavers are modern but clay pavers are lovely underfoot. The pavers will be used for the driveway, perimeter paving and alongside the patio (to create an additional outdoor area). I know its a hard question but any help would be appreciated Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Contemporary pavers 2Dec 16, 2007 11:23 pm Have you considered clay large format pavers such as the Riviera range from Austral? http://www.australbrick.com.au/sa/product.php?ID=1061
You might need to confirm the suitability of the large formats pavers for the driveway but if you go for the dark grey roof, I think the grey toned pavers would look great. Re: Contemporary pavers 3Dec 17, 2007 9:42 am I think the grey is a better match for your roof. ie as per the image. Just remember the larger the paver the more stable it needs to be underneath or it will tend to crack.
I think red pavers would not match in very well, but also bear in mind the grey will be hot in summer. Have I confused you enough Hope it helps. Cheers Steve Re: Contemporary pavers 4Dec 17, 2007 5:49 pm have a look at riverstone pavers and also custom stone pavers all large format and remember laying on sand is a bad idea they never last, always sink move , weeds etc lay them on a 100mm thick concrete base and mortar, costs more but it lasts a life time if it done right Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Contemporary pavers 5Dec 17, 2007 8:41 pm Davinci - how successful is laying pavers/tiles on top of an existing path?
I have a concrete path across the front of my place and when I get to the landscaping this I plan to pave it - It's a bit bumpy at present - can I screed it with a skim of motar then lay pavers or tiles directly on it OK? Steve Re: Contemporary pavers 6Dec 17, 2007 10:25 pm Found these two pavers which are quite nice ...
1st pic Stone solutions 500 x 500 x 50 (mates rates $32.00 sqm) 2nd pic: Maison - rustic look - available in 750 x 500 x 50 (sale price $34.95) 3rd pic: Maison - 500 x 500 x 50 Leaning toward rustic but need to decide before sale runs out prior to Xmas. Stone solutions is a cement product. Maison is a composite product (sandstone + cement) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Contemporary pavers 8Dec 18, 2007 12:14 am Yes I like the second lot better as well. They will probably cost more to lay due to size and extra base required, and I will have to wait for the driveway pavers to go on special as they are much more expensive than the regular 750 x 500.
Thanks Steve Re: Contemporary pavers 9Dec 18, 2007 4:33 pm pavers can be laid on preexisting concrete so long as it is sound ie : no cracks etc
you have to acid wash it with a 10/1 ration of hydro. i dont screed out mud for paving i lay one by one after the main header course is in with string line and straigth edge screeding pave pads never turn out flat, to the millimeter , doesnt matter what anyone says they never do you lay one paver give it a bedding tap and mortar bulges on the edges you can cut it but this is slow compared to single laying and again dosnt turn out falt to the millimeter only time i have screed was using small format nubrick style pavers but that was 4 - 5 yrs ago dont use them anymore and always do a wet on wet bond ie : stone adhesive or cement water slurry on back of paver then laided on to mortar if its around a pool dont use brick sand salt/chlorine breaks it down and it has a low downward compression strength use washed sand with acrylic modifiers and plastisicer dont use bond crete it is water base and breaks down over time in outdoor situation Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Appreciate that Chippy. I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 18563 Those span tables can be pushed a little for a low deck if you dont mind a little flex.
