I love flowering cherry and japanese maple but also depends on what other colours you have. Second Time 'Round Re: Ornamental trees 5Feb 14, 2011 1:07 pm manchurian pear http://www.flemings.com.au/ornamental_d ... _ID=MANCHU does get tall. Re: Ornamental trees 6Feb 14, 2011 9:43 pm I'm doing a Contemporary front (box hedging, etc) and a tropical back. Want something to grow not much higher than 3m, and not very wide. I was going to go for Manchurian Pear but they grow 7-8m which is what I don't want. Re: Ornamental trees 7Feb 14, 2011 10:35 pm A 3m tree is a shrub pruned to a tree shape or a tree in its early stages. Not many trees that get to 3m and decide to stop there. Olive trees are fairly slow growing so will stay under 3m for a while. Can be pruned to keep them smaller for longer too. Fit in well with just about any garden style especially modern. Re: Ornamental trees 8Feb 15, 2011 12:30 am At 3m you are no longer in the "looking for a tree game". You are now in the "looking for a big shrub" game. You will need to prune it as Keen suggested.
