Hi all,
Been having some problems with a spying neighbour in the house behind us at our new house. He is an old man, with nothing better to do. If the kids or anyone is out the back playing you can see him peeking through his window etc. Mowing the lawn in the backyard, I see him peeping through. There is an apple tree from another house that overhangs into our property. I went and picked a few apples from our side (to stop them dropping and rotting on our yard), he had the nerve to come over and tell me that he saw me sneaking and stealing apples (umm, excuse me I did it in broad daylight, I was not trying to hide anything). He claims that we don't take our dogs for walks (I do daily)...I had enough and asked him if he watches our backyard the whole day, in order to make a claim like that. But rant over, basically an old man that has nothing better to do.
So now, I need a screening tree. Two positives of the screening plant, he won't be able to pry into our yard 14 hours a day and it will block most of the natural light that enters his house (this was the only reason we didnt put up a screening tree previously).
I have no idea what to choose. First one that came into my head was Chris and Maries neighbours begone (thanks to their agressive ad campaigns).
My preferences are:
-Fast growing
-Thick DENSE bush
-Grows 3-4m at least.
Now, we need the trees to grow fast as I need to 'screen' him out ASAP. From what I have read on these forums, fast growing = high maintenance, which will be something that we will have to live with.
So I was wondering, what trees any experts here could recommend? Right now, for me the neighbours be gone lilly pilly is looking a strong contender.
My last question is in regards to planting trees and their proximity to adjacent properties. The neighbours house is very close to our back fence, is the limitation on how close we can plant the trees to the fence?
