Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 31, 2011 4:53 pm Hi Fu and all! It's been very hot in Sydney - a string of 40C+ days at my place. I've noticed that the EZ leaf will curl in on itself because of the heat. How long can it stay thin and spindly like this before it receives permanent damage? If I know it's going to be 40C tomorrow - should I water in the evening? At the moment I'm giving the lawn 10mm once every 5 days because of the heat - but we haven't had a stretch of 40C+ over 4 days before (mostly mid 30s) After 4 years - we're in! Re: EZ and very hot weather (40C+) 2Jan 31, 2011 5:07 pm I noticed with mine it bounces back very quickly with a drink, but the most I'd left it in that state would've been a day. In short - don't know the answer - but I'd just water it daily when it's that hot, then back to normal watering when things back to normal. Re: EZ and very hot weather (40C+) 3Jan 31, 2011 7:28 pm Yeah they roll up to protect themselves, I find the leaves go back to normal in the early evening when the direct sunlight is gone. I would suggest watering if the leaves stay curled over night/early morning. EZ is tough even if it browns right of and goes crispy it comes back fine after water. Also i noticed if you walk on it and it stays flat for a bit after then it needs a drink. I am really flexing my EZ atm training it too take heat with very little pampering like the rest of my garden plants. Re: EZ and very hot weather (40C+) 4Feb 01, 2011 12:46 am BK that is what I was just going to say, let it get knocked around, stick with the care methods you guys are doing and it will bounce back. Next time it won't happen so easy and the time after than, less again. Make the bloody thing work for the water. I know yours has really deep roots already. Re: EZ and very hot weather (40C+) 5Feb 01, 2011 9:03 am Thanks Fu and BK I did the walk test this morning on some dry patches and the grass is bouncing back up after I step on it so it seems fine.
