Not cert organic but better than nearly all composts available. You need to turn the soil into a sponge to start with by adding bentonite clay, this fills in the small gaps between the sand particles and help retain the water in the root zone for longer and it also helps prevent water repellency issues. Zeolite is another great soil amendment that locks and stores nutrients until the plants roots drag it out. Once you add this natural mineral they will never disappear from the soil. Check them out at http://www.sustainableoutdoors.com.au/bentonite-clay/ Re: Organic Soils 11Feb 09, 2011 1:53 am It's important to note readers that this thread is relative to Lower West Coast. Bentonite clay is not so great in clay soils There is a few threads containing the clay info. The other soil amendments Simon mentions is relative to clay however Certainly no harm in using them |
