I am from Perth WA and don't mind travelling a long way to get the goods Thanks! Hi mlg 85,the best way to get the result you want is to get plastic pots of all sizes and cover them in P.V.A glue and roll them in sand. Around Perth there are so many colours of sand in the bush you will find the colour you want. If you are a bit artistic you can do a rough drawing on your pot and then doing a bit at a time you put glue for example on the roof of a house and cover in sand and when that is dry do the same on the walls of the house and then do the trees and plants but use different colours of sand to get a mural. If you want something with more texture, mix your paint with marble dust and as you do each section"comb"the wet paint to get the surface you want. I think we might try using some random glitter and sequins too. Should we seal it on the outside with anything to stop it flaking? Bondcrete is the best for sealing,it goes on a milky colour but dries clear. If you have a pot with a nice finish you can coat the inside to stop the moisture coming through. Sequins look good if you coat the pot with Polyfiller. I use a spatular to spread it on and every so often put a touch of paint on the filler before you spread it on and it gives the effect of an old rendered wall that has matured with the weather.
