Hi all,
I am looking to turf my yard.
A local turf farmer has reccommend the use of DECO Minus One under his Empire Zoysia product.
I have searched the web and this forum and no one seems to recommend it, or even mention it.
I think it is a mixture of decomposed granite and sand - though I am not sure what sort of sand, or if this is sandy loam etc...
Has anyone else heard of this before - it doens't sound nutrient rich to me...but to be honest, what would I know?
I acknowledge the benifits of an in depth soil prep directions given by Fu across this forum, but I am curious about what makes a good landscaper supplied soil.
Why is nice rich looking dark brown top soil not reccomended for use, but instead a sandy loam. What makes a good sandy loam - a good description is not easily found on the net.
But most importantly, why would this turfer reccomend a road base product for a turf underlay?
Regards
Alf...
