Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 20, 2011 12:14 pm Hi All, I need some advice on what tree to select for our new house being built in The Ponds. Our backyard will be appx 13m wide by 7m deep with a sewer running along the back fence approx 1m in. As part of the design guidelines we are to have a tree that grows to 6m in the backyard and I am struggling to pick one! The backyard is in the north of our block and I am hoping to plant something in the west side to help provide shade from the afternoon sun. I really love the look of Golden Robinias but I hear they can be a pain due to suckering and also Golden Elm's but I am afraid an Elm will be too large for the space. Does anyone have either of these trees and/or can provide advice? Otherwise, any suggestions of great trees that have nice shade coverage and are easy grow/ maintain (I am not much of a gardener!), Something with a lime green / golden colour would be ideal but I am open to suggestions! Thank so much!
