Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 14, 2011 8:06 am I have 150 sqm yard and want to put grass on it, the area is L shaped , both area get good amt of sun. to keep cost down for this I am thinking of laying instant turf(EZ) on one part and growing buffolo variety from seed on the other part. since buffolo are more aggresive growers , I am hoping they will catch up with the EZ quickly. Will this work, will buffolo take over the EZ? Opinions & Suggestions please. Re: Grass- Will this Work-Opinions please 2Jan 14, 2011 10:43 am Even though I love me some EZ, in your case I would lay buffalo as well as sow buffalo and have it blend in. It will just look funny otherwise. The modern soft leaf kinds are nearly as good as EZ. Re: Grass- Will this Work-Opinions please 3Jan 14, 2011 5:57 pm Good soft buffalo like Sir wally and Palmetto don't come in seed. EZ spreads super slow so it really is only a instant turf option down here, you can use runners or pieces of turf rolls planted but it will take a good year to look ok with EZ. If you want pal or SW you can just plant bits and they will grow together far quicker. Another option is a Viro cell lawn, which is just tube stock turf that you plant out (little dearer than runners but easier) There is info on the forum if you do a search. If you go with runners/sprigs or cells you can throw out annual rye grass seed this will keep the lawn a presentable green then snuff it when it heats up in late spring when the EZ, SW or pal takes over.
