We've had ours for at least a month or more now. Best thing we have done so far. Love it. Excuse the old yellow leaves. Thought I would add ours too Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Don't forget you must use CHORINE neutraliser so your fish do not die. Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 423Jan 05, 2012 11:02 pm so very pretty! well done the both of you my history with fish is not so good so no living water feature for us :p Harrisdale backyard finally done! Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 426Jan 08, 2012 8:02 pm The plants we chose all prefer full sun. The waterlily in particular will not flower unless it has x amount of hours of full sun. Our pot faces north, but half the pot has shade due to the eaves. We'll see how it goes. The aquatic plant guy said no need for a filter or pump, as long as you get the balance of water/plant/fish right. Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 427Jan 08, 2012 10:19 pm they look lovely. I love water plants. Might have to investigate further once we've got more garden completed. today's effort was repotting what was left of two of the plants I planted yesterday. rescue mission as puppy decided he didn't like them there. Luckily I had 2 spare which I've planted in the same spots. Hopefully the little bit of plant I found this morning may recover. I've potted them and put them in the "to be cared for" section of the yard. I sketched out a design for the front and back yards a couple of weeks ago and it's slowly coming together. We also got a huge pile of lovely free mulch from the tree loppers who were removing a couple of trees from a neighbour's property. Just need to spread it all out... Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 434Jan 30, 2012 10:22 am Despite the heat yesterday I decided that I had to find out why all of the kanga paws had died out the front. After a little digging it became obvious that the landscapers had just put the poor things into what was literally builders rubble! There were 9 holes so I dug most of the rubbish out and filled them up with water. Later in the day I bought some organic compost and put some in each hole plus some zeolite, perlite and bactivate and then I planted out some agapanthus ... hopefully they will survive! All of the dianellas and most of the hardenbergias have died also so I am going to plant some yellow lantana at the front of the garden and in the winter will put some roses in. Just need to get some green mulch now as the mulch the landscapers used has just about disappeared after only a few months For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Thanks McLaren I hope they grow big and beautiful! Re: So what have you done in your garden today? 439Mar 29, 2012 8:46 pm Well, if we didn't have our 3 dogs then we would have been doing a LOT to our garden. It is pointless though with our 3 furry friends as they only end up ripped out of the ground soon after planting. We do however spend a lot of time in the front yard where flowers can grown to their hearts content without the imminent threat of being ripped out roots and all.
