Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 05, 2011 11:09 am Hi I am a building novice and would like some advice with a drainage problem. At the end of my undercover patio is a small ditch which fills up with water when it rains. I have dug the ditch to discover a unslotted Ag Line which is used to carry the water from the drains on the patio roof. Would I be right in thinking that if I replace this unslotted Ag Line with slotted Ag Line it will help carry the water away and solve the pooling problem, or will the water just run straight through the Ag Line and continue to pool? Why would they have installed unslotted Ag Line in the first place? Is there anything else I should be aware of when doing this job. Thanks for any help/advice given. Regards DJ Re: Advice please, drainage and Ag Line 2Jan 05, 2011 2:02 pm Hi DJ, Just to clarify, the ditch that fills up with water, is that where the unslotted agline finishes and that why you have a small lake or does it continue off somewhere else to drain into a sump? If your ditch is the place that the unslotted ag line finishes, dig the ditch a little bigger, go down to Glavins plumbing supplies and purchase a geofabric soakwell and run your unslotted ag pipe into it. With any luck, no more small lake Brad Re: Advice please, drainage and Ag Line 3Jan 05, 2011 8:51 pm Hi Brad Thanks for the reply. Unforyunately there is no space to put a soakwell. The ditch is at the end of the patio and is about two foot wide (from the patio to shale rock). To describe further, the unslotted Ag Line runs between two drain pipes, so is connected at both ends. The two drain pipes are further connected to more drains which lead to waste water outlets. The main query is will slotted Ag Line drain the water away satisfactorily to the rest of the drains. Or will water go through the slotted Ag Line and still pool water. Not sure how Ag Line works and how it keeps the water in once it goes through the slots. Thanks for any help.
