Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: Tainted EZ turf rolls - should I give supplier a serve? 21Feb 01, 2011 9:34 pm I also got my EZ turf from lovegrove, it's been 4 weeks since laid and the 'crabgrass' lare growing more and more on a lot of areas (same as the photos). Today I even noticed there are mushrooms growing. Richard Dale, has the lovegrove people sorted it out? i'll be interested to know the result. Re: Tainted EZ turf rolls - should I give supplier a serve? 22Feb 02, 2011 11:48 am All Lovegroves had someone come out last Thursday to sweep spray for the crabgrass. The herbicide active constituent was arsenic based (MSMA). Unfortunately I didn't get to reading up on the MSMA till after the deed was done, noticed on the instructions for a few different brands that it shouldn't be done on hot days as this will exacerbate damage to the host turf . . . . . was 40 degrees Thursday and Friday Fully aware that it was meant to brown the EZ leaves, but on Saturday it looked like it had gone waaaay further - even tho I know suppressing the water maximised the kill on the crabgrass, had to give it some water Saturday morning, it looked in real trouble with the heat (I was not to know there would be a downpour Sat arvo ). Keeping in mind my EZ was only a month old (a lot of the MSMA labels I read recommended at least 3 mows = >6 weeks before use). It looks to be comnig back ok, fresh green growth at the bottom of most blades, but there are some patches that appear to be fully dead. No doubt I'll get it going again tho no probs. Going to mow it this weekend (9 days after treatment) and seasol/pfeed/molasses. On the positive side, the crabgrass is cactus, the herbicide and the heat really smashed it. In summary, If I had my time again, I'd get the Endothall based one Fu recommended and do local treatment myself (just on the crabgrass tufts) rather than getting the MSMA bulk treated. Maybe if conditions were different (roots more established, weather milder), it would've been fine. But I guess as long as it comes back ok in the end I'm not too worried. Re: Tainted EZ turf rolls - should I give supplier a serve? 23Feb 02, 2011 11:56 am It will be fine and it's important to note that they know what they are doing and they too know it will be fine. Also worth mentioning is that this can happen in any turf at all. Being so young, it will suffer in extremes but so will any other lawn. It is the prep work under it that makes all the difference. Re: Tainted EZ turf rolls - should I give supplier a serve? 24Feb 18, 2011 4:34 pm How are your dead patches going citizen? I had them come and spray last week (only the front because I wasnt home) and im in a similar position with a few big dead patches. They came by to do a second application and said they were concerned, and they thought it was not getting enough water. I think I will just leave the back and wait and see if the crabgrass dies off on its own over winter. Re: Tainted EZ turf rolls - should I give supplier a serve? 25Feb 18, 2011 4:59 pm They haven't called to spray mine yet... I have done a few manual weeding sessions so if they call I'll ask them to hold off until autumn. The endothal was relatively inexpensive from B so I got some of that for spot treatment to try out when we have a few cooler days in a row. Tainted EZ turf rolls - should I give supplier a serve? 26Feb 19, 2011 12:27 am I should point out that the weed problems being encountered are also happening in many other varieties of turf as well as gardens at the moment. It is seasonal. Also EZ isn't the sort of turf that gets rolled out on yellow sand, lawn sands, top soils etc and densified poultry manure nor lawn starters etc. Re: Tainted EZ turf rolls - should I give supplier a serve? 27Feb 21, 2011 11:58 am gobrien182 How are your dead patches going citizen? They are definitely getting enough water and soil prep is not an issue (was done to the letter) - I think it genuinely killed the EZ in some parts. I'm sure they will be fine in the end tho. There is a part of the lawn under the most shade that hasn't come back anywhere near as well (isn't strong enough to re-grow into the low shade area, but could handle it when fully established?) I'll probably just replace this bit later with a spare roll I have or with a roll from when I do the front. However good news it - no crabgrass to be seen On another note - I will probably try some Empress instead of Empire for out the front, finer blade type? Plus I will have a reel mower by then to make it look ace. Re: Tainted EZ turf rolls - should I give supplier a serve? 28Feb 21, 2011 11:56 pm Empress can be a monster and that's why I don't recommend it for domestic applications. You need to own your own edger (proper edger not whipper snipper) and reel mower. Consider planting SW or Pal through the sparse areas. Get a blend. Blends are the ultimate in turfss but farms will never recomend them nor sell them. It really is very early days yet and let me tell you, it happens with any turf variety. There is a house near by me that had SW laid and it turned to crap! Still looks crap. If only they had found Homeone and it would look amazing I was going cry if they put plastic grass down. Phew, they didn't They using concrete or timber sleepers? Timber or steel uprights? Any drainage behind sleeper? 3 5876 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16006 hey there! 😊 so, it’s kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20906 |
