frangipani trunk - what's going on

Hi,

Found something creepy today. so abnormal. Any idea what's going on with my frangipani trunk?

Any idea what this is called; causes it and stops it?

Should I cut it up and plant these bits in the ground?

I think I might need to sacrifice it as my wife hates the look of it.
They appear to be aerial roots. I have shown the shot from the other thread to quite a few well accomplished leading horticultural brains here in WA. We are all as interested as you

Certainly nothing to be concerned about.
I think this one is going to be sacrificed as my DW hates the look of it.

Was thinking of chopping off the parts that don't have this and replanting them after they harden off. Not sure wether the new off shoots will have the same problem though. If so, might be better to put the whole plant in the green waste bin. What do you think?
I'd be selling it in the trading post
