Where we are building the front and backyards are all blacksoil and when it gets wet its like walking on wet concrete, then when it dries it gets big cracks all through it. Gypsum (apllied as labelled) which will work over the long term. Continual uses of products such as powerfeed and applications of compost/maures will slowly change the structure of the soil. In garden beds use straws and mulches that readily break down and require topping up annually. These mulches will keep moisture in the soil and stop the hard crust forming on the clay and also break down opening up the soil as well.
