Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 23, 2010 1:15 pm I went looking for this stuff today and of course our local big green shed doesn't have it. I can't find a website to ring the manufacturer and ask for a stockist in my area and don't fancy visiting every nursery and Bunnings store in the northern suburbs, so I'm asking for help. If you've seen it, post the location here and help your fellow Melbournians out, please? I'm in the north, but work in the inner west, so anywhere at all might be helpful. Re: Has anyone seen Olsen's Green Bio around Melbourne? 13Apr 24, 2010 11:15 am I will point out that this isn't something I use all the time but when establishing a new garden it gives the microbe population a bloody good kick along. As long as you avoid the use of fertilisers and fungicides when ever possible and use the methods of feeding the soil as I have hundreds of posts on, then the soil will continue to have a wonderful living ecosystem that can sustain your plants with little input from you to do so Re: Has anyone seen Olsen's Green Bio around Melbourne? 14Apr 24, 2010 12:18 pm Thanks for the pic, Fu - I already found it at Bunning's Thomastown. I also spent some time talking to a guy who was looking for the "right fertiliser" for his citrus trees. I steered him away from the citrus food and Dynamic Lifter and sent him off with an earful about molasses, manure, Seasol and Powerfeed. He was heading straight to the stock and feed place by the time I'd finished bending his ear. Or maybe he was just escaping from the crazy woman who talks to random strangers at Bunnings. I have some questions brewing for you Fu......will post them later. lisanne If you can't find it, I have an unopened bag if you need it this weekend and you can just replace it when it's available again. Thanks for the offer, Lisa; very kind of you ....I'm all sorted now though. Re: Has anyone seen Olsen's Green Bio around Melbourne? 15Apr 24, 2010 12:33 pm If in any doubt about what fertiliser to choose and someone is adamant they "need" a fertiliser because they are convinced that is how forests and plants grow, then choose a slow release like Osmocote but an all purpose. No need to fill your shed with a fertiliser for each plant, if you do, then you have been sucked in Citrus may from time to time with good soil feeding only require some trace elements in very sparing amounts (over doing or unnecessarily using trace elements can create headaches that many Horts and gardeners are unaware of). Good soil. Organic matter. Soil amendments like zeolite, spongolite (and in sandy soils bentonite clay) and the good non composted mulch like straws in the cooler wetter months and greener harder shredded tree waste / mulch in summer and it would certainly be almost not required for the home gardener. Of course consistent use of molasses and seasol with powerfeed too Re: Has anyone seen Olsen's Green Bio around Melbourne? 16Apr 24, 2010 12:45 pm Oh, I told him all about mulch too, don't worry Fu... Question: Are zeolite and spongolite readily available anywhere over here? Or do we need to order them from somewhere like Gardeners Direct? Re: Has anyone seen Olsen's Green Bio around Melbourne? 18Apr 24, 2010 1:50 pm slooi1 Kek, Zeolite can be obtained from Bulleen Art and Garden near Heidelberg. I also found Olsen's Bio Green at Preston Bunnings. Thanks! Re: Has anyone seen Olsen's Green Bio around Melbourne? 19Apr 24, 2010 4:50 pm Oh, and..... I was at Bunnings Mill Park this afternoon (hadn't reached my usual weekend three trips a day quota ) and the Olsen's Greenbio was on the shelf. I swear it wasn't there yesterday! Or maybe I'm just going blind.... Re: Has anyone seen Olsen's Green Bio around Melbourne? 20Apr 24, 2010 5:07 pm Zeolite and spongolite are readily available from pond shops, aquaponics shops, hydroponics shops and some garden centres (The good ones).
