Hi guys first time poster on this fantastic forum.
I'm a Perthite and live in the coastal suburb where its just pure beach sand and limestone rubble. I have read most of the posts regarding the use of Bentonite clays and other ammendments like zeolite, spongelite, seamungus to improve the soil structure and nutrient holding capacity and to perhaps buffer pH.
I'm wondering if instead of acquiring bentonite can we use Gingin red loam mix from the local landscapers as a substitute clay ammendment. I'm not sure what the % of clay content of this mix would be though ?
Certainly would be a cheaper solution...
