I am wondering is there a way to get rid of these things, or is it easier to just pull it all up and start again?? If the latter is the better option, what time of year should this be done, and is it expensive?? Re: Lawn and prickles - what to do?? 2Nov 26, 2007 10:13 am Can't you just use a weed treatment that can be applied using a watering can or something similar. Then you can re-seed over the existing grass and top dress it? Just to be safe…..for now, hit it with a couple of bags of “Weed & Feed” great stuff! It will kill the weeds and encourage growth of your lawn. The prickles???? Are they Bindies? It seems to work well for me... Re: Lawn and prickles - what to do?? 11Nov 26, 2007 11:14 am Yeah but doesn't weed n feed require the use of a HOSE???? Re: Lawn and prickles - what to do?? 13Nov 26, 2007 11:55 am There’s a new mix to it now.
It now comes in granulated form, so you can just throw it on the lawn!!! The granule types ususally require you to wet the lawn first before spreading it. Our backyard is fairly protected so shouldn't be too many issues spraying!! Any ideas if this is 'pet friendly'? Have a cat that likes to eat grass.... It will kill the new growth but the old dry bindies will remain for a while. It takes a few seasons of weed and feed to get the bindies under control.
If your lawn is patchy and you didn't plant it, just nuke it, it probably isn't buffalo. Re: Lawn and prickles - what to do?? 20Nov 27, 2007 10:50 pm Come off it Gav
