I FINALLY got around to buying some molasses just now for my palms, but was taken aback by the attitude of the retailer. He basically said to be extremely careful using it, not all plants like it, they might die, ra ra ra. I told him that I was following the advice of a expert (try not to get too big a head Fu ) who recommends its use. I tried to convince him of how dilute the mixture would be, but he still wasn't convinced I was doing the right thing; to him it is a huge risk using it on plants at all. Anyway, my opinion is that he should stick to selling chicken wire and oats.
Fu (or anyone else who has successfully used molasses on their gardens), I need to confirm two things. Is 20ml of molasses per litre of water in a watering can about right? And, is it better to apply it directly to the plant or to the soil around it?
Thanks in advance.
