Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 21, 2010 3:53 pm I know nothing about gardening. NOTHING , but I have to do our front landscaping. We have a north facing yard and I was considering the following for one part of it. Please tell me if there is any reason I should not do this Thanks! Grow Low Somac over general area (Do I have to be careful with this? Just looking for some type of green plant to break up the colour of the following plants) Then planted randomly in the same area, Dwarf Forsythia Dwarf Fothergilla Acacia Cognata limelight To the right of that, a Osakazuki maple tree , surrounded by large pavers, with mondo grass between them. Thanks in advance for your help! Any pics of the plants? Re: Is there anything wrong with this garden idea? 3Sep 22, 2010 7:21 pm The effect could look messy - how big an area are you talking about? I know the limelights; lovely plants but if they are happy in a location, can grow pretty big but if they aren't happy, then tend to look stunted. It's hard to make several in a row look good 'cause at least one will be unhappy and go scraggly while one plumps out and looks beautiful and the effect is unbalanced. Status: sold our first house, moved in with parents, bought our second in Pakenham, still planning to build in a few years time. Re: Is there anything wrong with this garden idea? 4Sep 22, 2010 7:30 pm LJ, might be best to give us some idea of the size of the yard and garden areas etc. It's a bit easier to see what will fit and what won't. Do you have a photo you could post. That would be the best way to go. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Is there anything wrong with this garden idea? 5Sep 23, 2010 9:21 pm Trinia The effect could look messy - how big an area are you talking about?
