Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 10, 2010 12:08 pm I have wild grass growing in beds and in my paving. Before we planted the garden the landscaper sprayed, but this grass is like triffids and just pops up everywhere. Is there a weed killer that I can spray on the grass (on the individual clumps) that won't kill everything around it? Re: Help with a weed / grass killer 2Sep 10, 2010 2:32 pm "Fusilade" is a specific herbicide for grass, that will leave other plants relatively untouched. It's not something you'll be able to get at your local hardware shop, but you average retail ag chemical shop may have it. A 500ML bottle might set you back $100. Re: Help with a weed / grass killer 3Sep 12, 2010 12:10 am It is also something that is extremely toxic and should only be applied by a professional. This stuff is nasty. If you get it on your skin, just rinse in cold water. Using soap will dilute it even more and make it more absorbent into the skin. Warm water will open the pores up and allow it to be absorbed even more. This is a topic that has come up many times. A quick search will reveal many of the same answer You will be kicking goals with roundup provided you follow my instruction found in those threads Re: Help with a weed / grass killer 4Sep 14, 2010 1:15 pm Fusilade aka "fluazifop-p butyl" is not a notably toxic product based on any of the MSDS from 2001 to the current 2010 (google the syngenta website for more details). It is used for the control of grasses amongst food crops. If in doubt, don't use, or seek a professional turf person etc who could also assist. Re: Help with a weed / grass killer 5Sep 15, 2010 1:13 am It's an S7 poison It isn't sold in small amounts. The smallest amount is 1liter. That covers One hectare. It isn't commonly sold in retail garden centres either due to it being an S7 poison. It will never be sold in smaller concentrations as the manufacturer themselves don't consider this stuff as being something that should be in domestic garden sheds. Yes it is used in food crops. I always thought Round Up would kill everything around it when you spray. I once trickled Round up on huge flat weeds in my grass, and the grass died all around it.
