Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 02, 2010 5:54 pm At the moment, our back yard is all mud, and has been dug out to a lower level than the neighbours gardens, so it fills with puddles when it rains. We need to fill it in with something, and have some type of surface that we will be able to walk on without coating our shoes and pants in mud. In future we will deck the area, but money doesn't allow for that at the moment. What are our options? The major problem is the drainage issue you will have when it rains. Can you run some temporary pipes with pits (drainage pits)? You will have to run them somewhere though????? Depending on your council regulations etc you might be able to look into running into stormwater. But check with the powers that be first. All comes down to how much water comes in from the neighbours too. Is it a constant large amount, a trickle or only when you have a down pour? When you have mud building up, it doesnt actually take a lot of water to make major drama with mud. If its not so bad just put some cheap turf down, like kikuyu? That way you wont have to worry to much about having to be quick with your deck. Re: Temporary Back Garden Solution 3Sep 02, 2010 11:29 pm Get onto your local tree bloke for some mulch Failing that, this is the very circumstance where weed mat is used. Please remove it before your garden goes in though Re: Temporary Back Garden Solution 4Sep 04, 2010 3:45 pm Crushed rock maybe?????
