I might add that the Pin Cushion Hakea is also sold as a Dwarf. Only the select few WA garden centres will even know about them. Funny enough, those garden centres are managed and staffed by some of the most talented Horticulturists around.

The other alternative and almost as spectacular is Hakea petiolaris.
Chris from Great Gardens was telling me how he came home one afternoon and heard some content twittering noises from his Hakea petiolaris hedge. There was a mob of Red Tail Cockies feeding in them. It is priceless to design things like that into a landscape.
