Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: Help please - which turf for Gold Coast? 11Aug 24, 2010 12:31 am There has been much study into the use of water crystals and it isn't good from what I have read on them and also from my experience in using them. They have been found to be very efficient at locking away nutrients from plants and responsible for poor root growth and development. In some cases in non-commercial applications it has had negative effects. It's use in professional commercial turf applications is something else all together. Now I personally don't use them. However to be fair they are well suited to being used mixed through potting mix for use in pots. However as I mentioned we are seeing nutrients being locked away from roots. It will be interesting to see how the turf develops over the next 3 to 4 years. The next 12-24 months won't really give an accurate measure of the performance.
