Wanna make me one? Re: Front Garden Episode 3 - Letterbox What I have been up to... 8Nov 06, 2007 7:49 pm Cookiemonster Looks great Adrian. Wanna make me one? Freight might be a bit of an issue. That is one heavy sucker As for copyright, its an interesting idea, given that the picture above shows a retail letterbox insert (available from Bunnings for $220 I think). Mine is wider, higher and nowhere near as professional as the steel posted ones. Essential tools were a drop compound saw (mmm big saw... aaahhhhggghggg) Slide ruler, bench drill and cordless screwdriver from work. I thoroughly recommend Dewalt cordless screwdriver, that thing had more balls than Keno, and saved me a week of work and a very saw arm. The bench drill allowed me to drill 3-4 pieces at a time. And now for the back garden Adrian B Re: Front Garden Episode 3 - Letterbox What I have been up to... 9Nov 06, 2007 9:22 pm Looks great Adrian, well done! You'll have to make me us one, or at least tell the other half how to do it! I have been thinking of letter boxes recently, but I guess it's a good idea to have the new house first! Did you put the posts into the ground and then put the wood around it or make the whole thing then stick it into the ground? Did that make sense? I hope so! Cheers, Mike. 4 treaded pine posts were used, about 1.6 metres in length (40cms into the ground) Use some pine to temporary hold it all together, cut and predrill the merbau and off you go. Then just cut out the holes for the letter box casing and newspaper slot.
