Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 30, 2011 5:55 pm Hello again everyone. Just after some advice on my front lawn. It appears that when the house was originally built, they used what I think is Queensland blue couch. Unfortunately wild couch has gotten a hold and I think it is slowly overtaking the blue couch. http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/applor/frontlawn001.jpg Can anything be done? To be honest I don't mind the wild couch that much - it looks ok though it is a bit unsightly with the blue couch spread through it. Should I try and stop the wild couch or just let it ride? Appreciate your opinions, thanks. Re: Front lawn battle of the couch 2Jan 05, 2012 11:07 pm They both look rather lovely to me. I wish I could grow either of these. If they're growing wild, you must live in a nice, tropical climate.... They'd use more water than I'd be prepared to use on them here.... Oh, I've never had my own lawn, so my opinion is worth less than 2c. Sorry! Re: Front lawn battle of the couch 3Jan 05, 2012 11:09 pm Oh, and the "battle of the couch" made me giggle..... I was imagining a couple of couches on your front lawn having a battle over who would take prime position on your verge for council collection..... Re: Front lawn battle of the couch 4Jan 07, 2012 12:44 pm Haha yeah I wondered if anyone might take the context that way:) Thanks for your input. Both these are growing without any maintenance (short of mowing). As I said I don't mind the look of the wild couch, its nice and green but the leaves are quite large. Sorry to hear you cannot grow either where you live. I live in Brisbane. the leaves that are now underground go yellow, the tips that poke through photosynthesise and have chlorophyll, same reason they grow rhubarb in the dark. 5 4834 Get some long brass machine screws and bolt right through the gate and put brass acorn nuts and washers on the other side.
