Re: Fairy Blues Front Landscaping 22Aug 17, 2010 9:53 pm shonzilla With you on that one Fu. Landscapers are trying to get me to do flax but its sooo over done!! I know why they are and that is too but would be bound to upset someone if I was to say why. Don't listen to them. Re: Fairy Blues Front Landscaping 23Aug 23, 2010 6:57 am We finished the front landscaping. In the deck garden we put in the Roy Slaven kangaroo paws. The side garden has 4 leucodendrons and 4 acacia limelights. The plants look a bit inconspicuous atm but I'm sure with a bit of growth they will look more interesting! I really like your side fence too. Don't worry about the plants being a bit small - take a look at the photos I just posted today and you'll see how fast they grow... Re: Fairy Blues Front Landscaping 26Aug 23, 2010 3:53 pm I love it! Congrats. Your house is one of my favorites on H1 I love the smart looking facade and what you've done with the pool area. Looks good Yeah, you're plants will be shooting up in no time giving the area a native/fuller look. Re: Fairy Blues Front Landscaping 27Aug 23, 2010 4:01 pm kek Lovely choices, FB! If all goes to plan DH will need to be out there doing a bit of pruning to keep them in order. Re: Fairy Blues Front Landscaping 29Aug 23, 2010 6:31 pm They maybe small but if you have good soil in there, then they will will get going without much help. Get plenty of seasol on them, every two weeks for now and then once a month till the heat arrives. When it gets hot, use seasol each week. Seamungus is also going to be a good thing to put on them as well as my fav, molasses Just pull the mulch away from those fellas. Make sure the soil is at the same level as it was when the plants were in the pots If they are planted too deep, the stems can rot. Mulch around the stems can also hamper their health Just pull it away a little To get them bushy, prune them quite a few times through the year A good rule of thumb for growing bushy shrubs and establishing hedges is two steps forward, one step back. The growth rate will still exceed that of leaving them grow or clipping just a few times a year Re: Fairy Blues Front Landscaping 30Aug 23, 2010 6:50 pm Thanks again Fu for your wonderful advice. We gave the leucodendrons a hair cut already. I have a lovely bunch of flowers inside. Re: Fairy Blues Front Landscaping 31Aug 24, 2010 7:52 am top stuff FB looking good but like Fu said just move the mulch away from the stems I went outside once.
