Im looking to build some planter boxes /garden beds similar to the below photos out the front of my house which is due to be finished in a months time, as a feature. The beds will hopefully be a max of around one and a half foot high and two or three feet wide and be sqaure or ractangular in shape. I saw them at a display home and fell in love with the idea. I plan to use small plants and nothing that would place too much root pressure on the edges.
Does anyone have any idea as to how to build them? I have a feeling they may be some form of rendered besser block or similar product with metal edging on the corners then rendered or painted with the render effect paint.
Also what sort of drainage set up would be required in the bottom?
Im sure you would you need to line the inside walls with some waterproofing product or membrane to stop moisture travelling through the course but i am unsure of what to use. I not too keen on wood type retaining beds but they may have to do if i cant figure this out.
Any ideas or advice would be fantastic.
