Ideas for your landscape. 64Sep 01, 2011 12:54 pm Front garden done and dusted. The plant tied up is a Canary Island Date Palm. Looked absolutely spectacular when we first put it in but it was being badly blown around so we had to cut off the outside fronds and tie it up. We dug up the Date Palm and the large Cycad next to it from our old garden. So far, so good they are looking happy enough. Mulch on top is fine pine bark (sorry Fu) as the local nurseries didn't have any tree lopper mulch. We've been watering in Powerfeed and Seasol and will get some molasses to add in as well. Would you know the name of this plant? __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. I have hope that mine will look spectacular again sometime in the future. Re: Show me your garden. Ideas for your landscape. 67Sep 01, 2011 4:18 pm catjim It's a Canary Island Date Palm. How tall do they grow? I have seen low growing REALLY wide ones, but not really tall in the stem? I dont mind a bit of height in the front garden but not to any mammoth scale. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Re: Show me your garden. Ideas for your landscape. 70Sep 01, 2011 4:42 pm There's some info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_canariensis that says 10 - 20 metres. It's going to take a VERY long time to get that tall though. The one we moved is around 10 or so years old and doesn't even have a trunk yet. Re: Show me your garden. These can devalue a landscape and home. Re: Show me your garden.
