Ideas for your landscape. 83Jul 17, 2012 1:54 pm Hi Rudolf, Your garden is look fantastic, its amazing how quickly plants can grow and really transform the look of the garden. Well done. Your before photos looked great, but with a years growth WOW what a difference. I cant wait to get some plants in the ground. It's been such a slooooow process for us and with this weather just cannot get out in the clay and mud to do anything, anyway I heard on the radio its only 6 weeks till spring, so cannot wait. Just finishing up my bedroom (wallpaper arrived yesterdaY) and have just ordered bench and cabinets for study, so quickly trying to get these things done before spring arrives so can concentrate all our efforts outside. These two rooms are the last of the inside to finish. it's taken longer than I thought to do the inside, thought I would have it all done in the first 12 months but it's blown out a little Site Start: 10th September, 2010 PCI : Friday 27th January, 2011. We only moved in at the end of June and were determined to get the garden finished quickly. Can't take the credit for the work but I did do some labouring for the landscapers and planted some of the plants. I love it ... you've done really well in such a short space of time - we have a similar box to you but will use it for herbs mostly .... what sort of palms did you use? Now to go and be sad over my boring facade.lol Forrester 43sq We have our keys (3/6/11) Now it's time to decorate (that's the fun part.lol) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37598 Re: Show me your garden. Ideas for your landscape. 87Aug 27, 2012 2:24 pm Thanks both - sorry Rudolf, hope the drooling isn't too mch of a problem! Mclaren they're mainly Foxtails and the big one in the corner is a Redneck palm. It's pretty breezy where we are which is great for the summer; the Foxtails are doing well but the Redneck is looking a bit tatty so not sure how it is going to cope there longer term. Think we may have put too much in the veggie bed! The Zucchinis are shading some of the herbs and lettuces so may have to cut some leaves off once they start fruiting. Also forgot how tall tomatoes grow (haven't grown veggies since helping my Dad when I was a kid and I'm over 50 now!!!!) sonos sure how they will do next to the snow peas. We'll learn this year and then adapt next year. Also, have planted a rhubarb crown in the sun in the shrub border - refuse to pay $5.99 for a straggly bunch of stems from Coles so hoping in a years time to have a stady supply for the freezer! Ideas for your landscape. 89Oct 23, 2012 9:41 am Hi - I like the pic of the path - 3rd last pic in your post above. Stones with stepping stones to walk on. Thinking of doing this on one side of our place - narrow - a metre or so wide - along a colour bond fence. Did it cost much and have plants done well. Did you need to angle it a bit. Did you use any drainage ? Was planning some simple greenery - nothing elaborate. PS4314 Thanks both - sorry Rudolf, hope the drooling isn't too mch of a problem! Re: Show me your garden. Ideas for your landscape. 90Oct 23, 2012 9:49 am Thanks Mike. I don't know how much that particular area cost as we had the whole garden landscaped professionally., but yes, the whole thing did cost a lot. It does slope away from the house but no special drainage. We used an ornamental stone there but river rock is effective and a cheaper option. If you do go down the route of stones + pavers then I would advise you put a weed matting down first to reduce maintenance. There are a couple of areas in our garden where we don't have it and it's a real pain to keep on top of the weeding. Ideas for your landscape. 95Oct 28, 2012 5:45 am Thanks for the kind words. We live in Victoria, and we've been on the Open Garden scheme for the last three years, although we are resting the garden for next year. It's a good idea not to overdo 'Openings' and we have a couple of projects in mind which will take a year or so to settle in anyway. However as a direct result of the scheme, a different Probus group each year has asked to have a mid week outing to our garden. In fact there's one coming in a week or so. Re: Show me your garden. Ideas for your landscape. 96Oct 29, 2012 7:10 pm Not so much to be able to show yet as it hasn't been put in, but just about all the plants I plan to put in are now sitting in pots out the back with a few more months to grow.
