We're looking to get quotes for garden design / landscape gardening in Melbourne.
I'd be grateful if anyone could PM me with references and contact details that I can follow up
Also, any advice on some general tips would be good to post here.
We have a standard 630 sq m block (15 m x 42 m) which slopes down about 2 metres front to back and we are building a double story home on a slab. The front yard will be about 15 x 9 and the back will be about 15 x 14.
The soil in our area is sandy and drains well.
The features we're looking for are:
- 1. Water tolerant.
2. Attractive low maintenance plants.
3. Ground cover for the kids to play on at the back.
4. Some paving from the "outdoor room" around the back of the house.
5. Traditional style garden beds to the fence on all sides.
6. Plant screen for back fence.
7. We intend to keep our beautiful magnolia as a feature at the front (not on driveway side).
Plants we like and have now:
- Lavender
Camelia
Agapanthus
Federation daisies
Photina
Things to think about:
- Water tank
Clothes line
Watering system - even though we have water restrictions is it worth at least laying the ground work for a watering system?
Shed
Compost bin
Lighting - we want to be able to enjoy the garden at night!
I have read YSSIM's post "Clueless Needing Gardening Help!" which has some fantastic posts - really.
