Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jul 08, 2010 10:32 am so i have finally worked out how i am going to have my garden, and i want to put natives in. Can anyone recommend plants that arent going to grow too big? each garden bed will be 2m x 7m. I absolutely love banksia trees, but i dont want huge trees growing in my backyard! Many thanks Re: water wise plants? 2Jul 08, 2010 12:23 pm Where are you? There are lots of smaller banksias. There's a dwarf menzies that I badly wanted, but they're not the easiest things to grow. Hairpin banksias are small too (about 1m x 1m from memory). I ended up with a pincushion hakea instead, quite a similar look, but the guy at the nursery reckons it's almost foolproof. There's a huge amount of choice. Best to wander round a nursery or four and see what kind of thing you like. Then draw a couple of pictures of your space and what kind/size/shape of plant you want where (eg. tall screening plant along the fence, 1m bush with flowers in front, grassy thing in front of that). Then we can suggest plants to go in each spot Murraya could be a great option for you. It creates a great tall screening hedge but doesn't drop fruit like lily pilly. The flowers smell divine. 2 10241 18 90477 From what I know about water tanks (I've been working with a client on them for a few years now) is this - The concrete can last a lifetime if they don't crack for some… 2 10629 |
