Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 13, 2010 10:07 pm On one spot of my nature strip lawn, i've got these wild looking mushrooms growing. I've already pulled them out then mowed the lawn, but they have regrown. Is there anything I can spray on the spot to kill them for good but not kill the grass? Re: Killing mushrooms 3Jun 13, 2010 11:44 pm Don't treat them. Leave it. Mushies will be seasonal and also be an indicator of high nitrogen content in the soil from over fertilising or from excesses of decomposing thatch. Either way the mushies will be doing a service to you just now. A symptom of perhaps some poor lawn care advice or dare I say it even practices She'll be right and it will sort itself out in time. These will not take over the lawn, they will not kill it. Review the turf thread and get the idea of a fertiliser free lawn that doesn't encounter these issues much or at all The use of fungicides is not recommended under any circumstance and some are banned in other countries. Our Government says they are safe but that is not shared by a few high profile Horts you see on telly and it isn't shared by me either. If you must try the use of "Eco Fungicide" A cert organic fungicide by the BFA based on potassium bi carb. http://www.ecoorganicgarden.com.au/product.php?id=28 I don't condone the recommendation of fungicides unless a very serious situation is going to require it and that sure doesn't involve a lawn Sorry for the harsh words but it will be cool in the end |
