Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 03, 2010 3:14 am hi guys, i'm planning on remodeling our backyard. right now, it looks like a war zone and i want to clean it up and make it look like a decent garden. i just want to ask if you have any suggestions on what i can do. it's a small area. the perimeter of the backyard measures around 5m x 12m only. other than shrubs, that i don't really know what it is, and patches of grass, there's nothing in it. so i want to make it look nice for parties and barbecues. if you have any ideas on what i can do, please let me know. oh... i just want to let you know that i have a limited budget. so if you have really good ideas that won't burn a hole in my pocket, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot! Re: garden ideas 2Jun 03, 2010 7:24 am Can you post a photo or a sketch of the layout - where doors and windows are, which way is north, etc? We like pictures... Also, where are you located and do you need to include anything other than an entertaining area. Storage for garden tools, clothesline, bin storage....? Once you have that all sorted, you need to work out what you want. If you want somewhere to host a bbq and people to sit, you will definatly need a paved or decked area. you also need to look at drainage, then you need to workout what type of plants u want. Fruit trees look great and provide lovley flowers and fruit also, and can be fairly easy to maintain. But as Kek said, without any info, we cant help much. 5 x12 is a decent sized yard. You could do alot with that. You will need to provide some pics or some drawings and maybe we can assist further. Geographic location is good to figure out what type of plants u could go with, and what r ur preferences with plants?
