Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 21, 2010 11:28 pm We're gearing up to do the landscaping next weekend and have sorted out all bar 1 of the plants we need from a local nursery. They're not cheap but the difference has been quality advice and assistance. Plus even to a gardening idiot like myself, their stock appears to be far healthier than plants I've seen in other outlets. Unfortunately the only plant they are unable to supply is the centrepiece for the front yard. They won't have stock until spring and we'd like to finish the work in one hit. It's an Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki' - http://www.flemings.com.au/ornamental_d ... LT_ID=OSAK I've been unsuccessful in finding somewhere that stocks these trees. Can anyone suggest a nursery in Melbourne that might stock a good example of one of these trees? I am hoping to source it before next Friday. I'd be happy with something around 1-2m? Re: Which nursery in Melbourne - Need a Jap Maple "Osakazuki 3May 22, 2010 10:29 am building1 Gardenworld on Springvale rd, Dingley have a great range of everything garden although they can be a bit pricey. Also 100m up the road is Pots Galore who also have a nursery out the back, cheaper than GW generally but a much more limited range only 'popular' varieties. They had a few Japanese maples last time we were there but couldn't tell you the exact variety. Good call there, they have bare root stock coming in. Might not fit my time line but they're close by so I'll just get everything else ready and go with that. Thanks. Re: Which nursery in Melbourne - Need a Jap Maple "Osakazuki 7Jun 01, 2010 10:38 pm bails Dave - drop me a line - I know where you can find them! I'm expecting aumanns to get them this week so I can finish the landscaping on the weekend. If they're unable to supply, I'll give you guys a ring Re: Which nursery in Melbourne - Need a Jap Maple "Osakazuki 8Jun 02, 2010 3:44 pm Gardenworld in springvale are so expensive its not even funny. Diacos in Hampton Park are huge and their prices are ridiculously cheap and their stock is of the best quality. I couldn't blv the prices. Price comparison = Ornamental Pear Glens Form Gardenworld = $129, Same tree, same size diacos = $29 GO figure... However, you better know what you want/need as the staff there don't know too much. Im sure i saw the jap maple u are after there last week... Re: Which nursery in Melbourne - Need a Jap Maple "Osakazuki 9Jun 02, 2010 8:08 pm Diacos are a great nursery and the owners have done a fantastic job in setting up the nursery - if you get one of the family members you will get exceptional service. Its the nursery I send people to if I cant supply the particular plant they are after - a far better option than a certain large warehouse - beware buying plants under shadecloth! Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6448 brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7646 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7435 |
