The incoming water virtually bounces off and makes a mess around the tank (mossy's love it...). I've taken the bag out and cleaned it, that seems to help but that's a pain. Is there a better solution to this? Many thanks. Re: Bluescope tank problems 3May 19, 2010 4:22 pm Gunk like leaves? or other crud from the gutters that has been there ages? MY FIL's house has heps of trees around it and the fine gum flowers sit in the mesh filters on the downpipe filter thing and stops any rainwater getting to the tanks. I have to get onto the roof every couple of weeks and blow the leaves off and clean the mesh on the downpipes, short of chopping all the trees down, there aren't any options. Oops I should clarify the gunk is fine grained soil and dirt, there are no leaves in the gutters - it's a new two storey house and there aren't any nearby trees to drop leaves. Where does the dirt come from? That "red dust storm" we had a few months ago didn't help but I think it must be general dust blown about by the wind? So I can't exactly stop it. Thanks again. Re: Bluescope tank problems 5May 19, 2010 8:08 pm It sounds like you need some kind of first flush system (or whatever they are called) it doesn't put the first x mls into the tank as that often contains crud from the roof and then after that it diverts it to the tank 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.'
